On November 10, 2017, the UP-CI was actively involved during the 14th Philippines-China Joint Commission Meeting on Science and Technology (JCMST). The bilateral Science and Technology relationship between the Philippine Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) serve as a venue to discuss possible areas and modes of collaboration with the Chinese counterpart. It was also an opportune time to showcase science and technology institutes and/or facilities in the Philippines, like the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development, Forest Products Research and Development Institute, International Rice Research Institute, and the Institute for Plant Breeding.

June 16, 2017: the University of the Philippines (UP) and the College of Angeles (CCA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to collaborate in designing programs that will provide Chinese language and culture learning in the CCA, upgrade the quality of Chinese language instruction through immersion programs in China, capacity-building for teachers and students, and faculty scholarship grants in the Chinese language.

January 11, 2017: Officials and staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will soon be trained in Mandarin language and culture by staff of the University of the Philippines Confucius Institute (CI) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between both institutions on Jan. 11. 

October 4, 2016: The University of the Philippines Diliman, through the Confucius Institute (UPD-CI), entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) in “teaching Chinese language and culture to schools” of LCP member cities on Oct. 4 at the Office of the Chancellor. 

(OCT. 13)—The Confucius Institute at UP Diliman (CI-UPD) will “serve as a strong bridge to connect and to enhance the cooperative exchanges between the two countries (China and the Philippines),” said Xiamen University President Zhu Chongsi at the inauguration of the CI-UPD on Oct. 12, 2015, 9 a.m. at The Forefront, University Theater.
